Fun during cookie time

Amanda named this post...

Cooking

Trampoline

To our adoring fans...

Julie: "We are at Barker's house and having more fun than you."
Jamie: "Bet you wish you were here."
Derek: "Tough luck, Charlie."
Barker: "Aloha, D.B."
Amanda: "It was a do-it-yourself kit."

Barker is going to pick up the pizza...all $19.60 of it. We stayed at his house while he went to get the pizza, which is where we are now. We watched Back to the Future III and Jamie studied for her medication test. Mark did not come. Now we are taking a picture to put up on the blog while he is gone. Ok just kidding...it was a cute picture but Barker has all the wrong cords to put it on his computer.

for Aunt Tina

This is for Aunt Tina because I think everybody else knows...

I took my nursing boards on Saturday and I found out on Monday that I passed them! They don't give us a percent but I got the least number of questions (75) so I did pass with flying colors :). The worse you're doing the more questions they give you up to 265. Thanks for your confidence because I was sure I was going to fail!

Prayer Request

My NCLEX is Saturday and I would appreciate your prayers!!!! Test starts at 9 am. Barker and Eric are being very nice and giving up their Saturday to come with me. If anyone else would like to join us in Ann Arbor for the day let me know! I have a couple more seats in my jeep open :). Hopefully the test will only take me a couple of hours and we'll have the rest of the day to have fun! And the more friends around the less likely I am to have a panic attack :). See you all on Monday!

Monday

Do you guys want to come to my house on Monday? Most of you still haven't been to my mom's house yet so if you want to come over Monday let me know. You can come over whenever b/c I'm off all day but I have to wake up for work at 5 on Tuesday so I'd probably kick you out around 10 or 11 unless you want to stay while I go to sleep :). If you need directions call me, barker, or julie. I would post them but I don't want the whole world knowing where I live cuz I'm sure everyone reads our blog :). So let me know if that would work for everybody.

Canterbury Village

Well I wasn't given an assignment but I thought of something while I was trying to fall asleep last night. Brandon and Melanie have been to Canterbury Village (actually thats where he proposed) and they said it was a lot of fun. It's by the Palace of Auburn Hills so it's not too far. I can ask Brandon more about it if anyone is interested. You can also go to www.canterburyvillage.com for more information.

Here is some info. from the website:

Olde World Canterbury Village, a designated historical site in the State of Michigan, extends over 21 acres. It is host to 18 specialty shops and wonderful features. With 90,000 sq. ft. of holiday retail space, Aldridge's Always Christmas is one of the largest and most unique Christmas stores anywhere!
Historical Olde World Canterbury Village displays a wealth of worldly treasures. As it was developed by Stan Aldridge and his family, they included an outstanding array of artifacts and antiques collected from their world wide travels.
Antique windows, doors and paneling strategically placed during the restoration and construction process of Olde World Canterbury Village and Canterbury Castle Banquet Center are now beautiful additions to this extraordinary Michigan experience.
ne of the Village's most spectacular stained glass windows is an original Tiffany called Wisteria. It is located in the Canterbury Toy World. Parents and Children alike are enthralled with this delightful shop that prides itself on its large selection of educational toys, books, games and puzzles.
Canterbury Castle Banquet Center Restaurant, built with olde world style craftsmanship, is rich in luxurious quality and ornate furnishings. Stan Aldridge specially designed the restaurant to enhance the integrity and ambiance of Olde World Canterbury Village.
pecial features of Canterbury Castle Banquet Center include oak paneling and carvings from France, European armor, swords, tapestries, a stained glass window from Scotland, an antique fire place from England and the chandelier from the famed Michigan Theater.
anterbury Clock Tower, with all the charm of a Dicken's Christmas, chimes on the hour and the half hour. Further along the path at Olde World Canterbury Village, shoppers will find a beautiful reproduction of a 19th century German Carousel. It is housed inside the Canterbury Pavilion and delights children year round. The village hosts a wide variety of festivals throughout the year. See our schedule of events for dates and times.

Grand Rapids

Gerald R. Ford Museum Gerald R. Ford Museum

Fax: (616) 254-0386

The permanent exhibits are the core of the Museum's program. They allow visitors to participate in history, not just view it, while reviewing the highlights of the lives of President and Mrs. Ford. In addition to the permanent exhibits, a succession of temporary exhibits draw upon the rich holdings of the entire Presidential libraries system, the Smithsonian Institution, the National Archives, and others.

Not all museum programs revolve around the exhibits schedule. Museum staff organize and and host special events, everything from a 1940s fashion show to activities for school children. The Museum also hosts naturalization ceremonies for new citizens and opens the grounds to the community festivities and fireworks on the fourth of July. The Museum Store sells items relating to President and Mrs. Ford and other Presidents and First Ladies, along with a number of souvenirs.

Where the Ford Library offers an analytic approach to our past and our government, the museum provokes emotions that stimulate learning, reflection, and a sense of democratic citizenship. For visitors, the presidency is theirs to see and touch (almost), to use, and to hold accountable.

The Ford Museum opened to the public in September 1981. It is part of the Presidential libraries system of the National Archives and Records Administration, a Federal agency. Unlike other Presidential libraries, the museum component is geographically separate from the library/archives. The Ford Museum is in Grand Rapids, Michigan and the Library is in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Despite the separation, the library and museum are a single institution sharing one director.

5. There is too much to put all I only put a few follow THIS LINK to the Guide for Grand Rapids!

Lansing and so on and so forth...

Well, my assignment was Lansing, and there's pretty much nothing there worth intrest of doing...there is some Malcom X thing. So, in well doing I looked up a few more places.

The first place I looked up was Silver Lake Sand Dunes. It's 220 miles, but it has beaches, Dune Scooters, Lighthouses, and Fast Tracks (bumper cars and go carts).

The other place I researched was Niagara Falls. The passport thing is not in effect yet, and by taking the Canada way, it's about 250 miles, which is no farther than Traverse City. Some attractions there are American Falls, Canadian Falls, Butterfly Conservatory, Floral Clock, Hydro Power, IMAX, Journey Behind the Falls, Kurtz Orchards, Lundy's Lane Historical Museum, Minolta Tower, Niagara Grand Dinner Theatre, Queen Victoria Park, Reg's Candy Kitchen, Ripley's Believe it or Not, MarineLand, Nightly Illuminations, Oakes Carden, Skylon Tower, Souvenir City, and White Water Walk, etc.
A link is http://www.infoniagara.com/attractions/indexf.html

It could be a little more difficult in one day...but it's worth if if you haven't been there. It could also be a bit more expensive, depending on the things you want to do there...it's free to walk around, shop, and walk from the Canadian side to the American side and all that...Gas isn't as much of an issue because we can fill up before we leave. So, with all that said, I would vote for Niagara Falls, and then Irish Hills.
